The recommended way to Fushimi Inari Shrine from Gion is by Keihan Railway from Gion-Shijo station.

There is no direct bus service available between Gion area and Fushimi Inari Shrine.

I’ll show you the example of travel time, including average walking and waiting time (between Hanamikoji Street in Gion and Fushimi Inari Shrine).

 »»»    Keihan Railway  from Gion-Shijo Sta.

It takes in total about 25 minutes (¥220).
From Hanamikoji Street, 3 minutes’ walk to Keihan Gion-Shijo station.
Keihan trains are operated almost every 10 minutes, and 9 minutes’ ride to Fushimi-Inari station .
From Fushimi Inari station, 5 minutes’ walk to Fushimi Inari Shrine.

From Gion to Fushimi Inari Shrine, firstly please head for Gion-Shijo station (Keihan Railway).

The station is near the Shijo-Ohashi bridge, located at west side of Gion area.
For example, from Yasaka Jinja Shrine located at east side of Gion area, it takes about 6 minutes’ walk to Gion-Shijo station.

2. By Keihan Railway for Fushimi Inari Shrine

From Gion area to Fushimi Inari Shrine, Keihan Railway is very convenient because you can move on schedule.

Actually, many types of trains are operated on Keihan line.

But, Only local, sub-express and express trains stop at Fushimi Inari station.
(note : limitede express doesn’t stop)

Please ride those any early trains at track No.2.

The followings are the details.

1. Head for Keihan Railway Gion-Shijo Sta.

From any attractions in Gion, firstly walk to the west direction on Shijo street, and then, before the Shijo-Ohashi bridge, you will find several Keihan Railway Gion-Shijo station entrances. (please refer the location map in previous section

This is the one of the station entrances on Shijo street.

This is another station entrance (in the Minamiza Kabuki Theater).

Keihan Railway Gion-Shijo station is located underground like subway.

2. Take local, sub-express or express trains at track No.2.

All local, sub-express and express trains at any track take you to Fushimi Inari station.

Sub-express trains are mainly operated in the daytime.

3. Get off at Fushimi Inari Sta.

In 9 minutes’ ride, trains arrive at Fushimi Inari station.

After getting off, please walk to forward direction, and head for the ticket gate, located at the end of the platform.

4. The way to Fushimi Inari Shrine from Keihan station.

After getting out of the ticket gate, please walk to the left. as the signboard shows.

Please walk along the street, and go through JR crossing and the Torii-gate ahead.

This is the Torii-gate.

In 2 minutes after going through the first Torii-gate, finally you come to the two-storied gate and main shrine (hall) of Fushimi Inari.

From Keihan Fushimi Inari station, it takes 5 minutes’ walk to the main shrine (hall), and about 9 minutes’ walk to the most popular place called “Senbon Torii” in Japanese, meaning thousands of Torii gates in English.
