1. Overview
How to get to Kinkakuji Temple from Fushimi-Inari Shrine ?
You can go by JR (Nara line + Sagano line) + Bus via JR Enmachi Station.
The recommended way to Kinkakuji Temple from Fushimi-Inari Shrine is “by JR (Nara line + Sagano line) + Bus via JR Enmachi Station”.
There is no direct bus service available between them.
The map below is the overview of the routes, time and fare.
From Fushimi-Inari Shrine to Kinkakuji Temple, firstly please head for JR line station, Inari.
The JR station is located just a few minutes’ walk from the main gate of Fushimi Inari Shrine.
So, it is very convenient.
On the JR line, the nearest station for Kinkakuji Temple is Enmachi.
It actually takes about 23 (sometimes 33) minutes in total from Inari Sta. to Enmachi Sta. due to train schedule (including transfer time).
You need to change trains at Kyoto station, from Nara line to Sagano line.
From Enmachi station to Kinkakuji Temple, it takes aboute 9 minutes’ ride by Kyoto City Bus.
After all, it takes about 50 to 60 minutes in total from Fushimi Inari Shrine to Kinkakuji Temple.
The fare is ¥430 for an adult.

2. By JR line + Bus for Kinkakuji Temple
2-1 By JR (Nara line) : From Inari Sta. to Kyoto Sta.
Firstly, I’ll show you the way to Kyoto station from Inari station by JR Nara line.
JR Inari station (the picture above) is just in front of Fushimi Inari Shrine. The station is located at the end of the approach through the main torii-gate of the shrine when you come from main shrine.
1. Take any Trains bound for Kyoto Station
Local and rapid type of trains are available on JR Nara line.
But normaly, only local trains stop Inari station.
(On peak season, rapid train may also stop.)
In conclusion, please take any trains bound for Kyoto Station, because Kyoto station is the last stop of JR Nara line.
The trains depart from track No.1, located opposite side of ticket gate.

2. Change Trains at Kyoto Station
In 5 minutes by local trains, trains arrive at Kyoto station.
Kyoto station is the last stop, so it’s easy when get off.
2-2 How to Transfer at Kyoto Station (From Nara line to Sagano line)
Trains from Fushimi Inari shrine arrive at Kyoto station track No.8, 9 or 10 (Nara line).
Then, trains for Enmachi station depart from track No.31, 32 or 33 (Sagano line).
JR Kyoto station is huge, so it takes at least 5 minute to change trains form Nara line to Sagano line.
The followings show the recommended way to transfer.
1. After getting off, Head for the Overpass ahead.
When you get off trains, please walk to forward direction, and go up stairs to the overpass.
2. Walk on the Overpass
Keep walking on the overpass until the end.
At the end of the overpass, turn left and go downstairs.
3. Following the Sign, Walk Straight.
After getting down from the overpass, walking to the forward, following the sign of Sagano line.
Please keep walking along the passwage, then you come to the platform of JR Sagano line at the end.
Please check the track No. by an electric noticeboard, and ride any early train except for limited express.
2-3 By JR (Sagano line) : From Kyoto Sta. to Enmachi Sta.
Local and Rapid type trains are available on the JR Sagano line.
Both types of trains stop the station for Kinkakuji Temple, named Enmachi station.
1. Take Any Trains on JR Sagano line
For Enmachi, take any trains departing from track No.31, 32 or 33 except for limited express.
The trains are usually operated about 5 times per hour.
2. Get off at Enmachi Sta.
In 10 minutes’ ride, trains arrive at Enmachi station.
The 4th stop by local train, and 2nd stop by rapid train from Kyoto station.
2-4 By Kyoto City Bus : From Enmachi Sta. to Kinkakuji-michi Bus Stop
From Enmachi station to Kinkakuji temple, please take Kyoto City Bus No. 204 and 205 .
No.204 and No.205 run the same route for Kinkakuji temple from Enmachi station.
The name of the bus stop you ride is “Nishinokyo-Enmahci”, a little bit different from just “Enmachi” station.
In 9 minutes, the buses arrive at the nearst bus stop, Kinkakuji-michi.
The followings are the details including how to transfer at Enmachi station.
1. At Enmachi Station, Turn Left after Getting out of the Ticket Gate.
When you get out of the tickete gate at Enmachi station, please turn left and walk to the main street. (named Marutamachi Street)
2. At the main Street, Walk to the Right.
When you come to the main street (Marutamachi Street), walk to the right direction.
3. Keep Walking untill a big Intersection, and Turn Left.
Please keep walking along the Marutamachi Street until a big intersection, and turn left.
4. After Turning left, Cross the Street.
Cross the Marutamachi Street at the intersection, and follow the sidewalk of the road.
5. Soon, You Come to Nishinokyo-Enmachi Bus Stop “E” for Kinkakuji.
After crossing the street, soon, you come to the Nishinokyo-Enmachi bus stop “E” for Kinkakuji temple.
please ride any early buses. (either No. 204 or No. 205 )
About in 9 minutes, buses arrive at Kinkakuji-michi bus stop, the sixth bus stops from Nishinokyo-Enmachi bus stop.
3. The Way to Kinkakuji Temple after Getting off the Buses
Bus No. 204 & 205 arrive at the same bus stop, Kinkakuji-michi bus stop C.
Please walk to the backward direction after getting off, and soon you will find out the street lined with trees on your right.
In 2 minutes’ walk on the tree-lined street, you come to the gate of Kinkakuji Temple.
The followings show the way to Kinkakuji temple from the bus stop.
1. After Getting off, Head for the Backward Direction.
After getting off your bus, please walk to the backward direction, and turn right to the street lined with trees.

2. Walk on the Street lined with Trees.
Please walk along the tree-lined street.
3. Finally, the Gate of Kinkakuji Temple !
In 2 minutes’ walk, you come to the gate of Kinkakuji Temple.
