In March, as the chart shows, both average high and low temperatures are relatively low, but nice temperatures to walk around in the daytime, though sometimes it gets chilly in the morning.

Statistically, to the late March, the average temperatures get higher little by little, but actually, those high and low temperatures are various depending on the day. During the month, we often have a weather pattern such as three cold days and then four warm days.

For your reference, average early March’s high & low temperatures are 12°C3°C, ≈53°F37°F, and late March’s temperatures are 16°C6°C, ≈60°F42°F.

In the case of 2021, it was nice temperatures in the daytime, but chilly in the early morning, and it was mainly nice sunny weather, but not-consecutive 3 or 4 days were heavily rain.

So, what to wear in Kyoto in March ?

At first, the one taken in the end of February, almost the same temperatures with early March. (the temperatures of the day : highest: 13°C≈56°F, lowest: 6°C≈43°F)

Next, the one taken in the end of March, a warm day. (the temperatures of the day : highest: 25°C≈77°F, lowest: 10°C≈50°F)

Then, the other one also taken in the end of March, a cold day. (the temperatures of the day : highest: 15°C≈59°F, lowest: 6°C≈43°F)

Statistically, it is getting warmer day by day to the end of March, but actually cold winter and warm spring come in turns in March.

In the case of late February or cold day of March, people appear to wear some kind of normal jackets.
